Substitute Application Requirements

The District accepts applications for substitutes on a year-round basis.

People interested in subbing (either Certificated (you must have a Washington Teaching Certificate) or Classified) should complete all of the regular application materials (click here for more info).

Please be sure to indicate your preference for "Substitute" work (you can indicate this when you are on the "preferences" page, by clicking on the "substitute" box.

Once your application is complete (including all of the additional paper materials required), we will check your references, have your file approved and then invite you to come in for a substitute orientation.

Substitute Orientations include completing payroll paperwork, being fingerprinted (if your name does not show in the OSPI database, which holds the FP info for two years, we fingerprint you right here on site), and learning about our dispatch system, etc...

Please feel free to check in with our office at (360) 779-8711 at anytime to check on the status of your application.

Certificated Substitutes are paid in four hour increments (1/2 day or whole day).

For the first 29 days you work in each school year, 1/2 day = $55 and whole day = $110.

Once you work 30 days in each school  year, 1/2 day =$62.50 and whole day = $125.

These days do not have to be consecutive and the total days will be reset each year.
