 Certificated Application Instructions                                Begin Application

Thank you for your interest in the North Kitsap School District. Please read the following requirements carefully.
You will fill out the main body of the application online and submit it electronically. Although submitting the online application makes you an active candidate, several additional items must be submitted separately in order to complete your application (see below) and for you to be considered for open positions. In this competitive job market, we strongly encourage you to provide complete and detailed information and be sure to include anything you wish to have considered. 

Applications will not be kept active beyond one year from the submission date, unless renewed and/or updated by the applicant.

To use the online application to apply for a certificated position in the North Kitsap School District follow the procedures listed below:
Please Note: If you do not complete your application and “submit” it within thirty (30) days, it will automatically be deleted from our online system.

First Time Visitor
If you have not registered with our online application system, not submitted a paper application, and you are not an employee with our district, click “First Time Visitor” to begin the process.  If you do not receive a password, please contact HR. Please do not re-register with the system before you check in with HR.
Previous Applicant
If you were an applicant previous to our online system (you submitted a paper application within the last three (3) years) and have not registered online, click “Previous Applicant” to begin.

Registered User
If you have already registered on our online system, click “Registered User” to log onto the online system.
Once you have entered the system, complete each of the sections beginning with “Preferences”. Fill out the remaining sections on the Application Menu including “Education”, “Certificate”, “Licenses”, “Skills”, “Experience” and “Reference”. Note: When completing the “Experience” section please include your internship (student teaching) experience as part of your employment history.
Upon completion of your application, you can click on Summary to review and print a copy of your application.
When you are ready to submit your application, click on “Submit Application” and click on the "Continue" button. You will then need to complete the Applicant Disclosure and Background Check Statement and the 3 steps of the Electronic Signature Process, Certification, Authorization and Release before the submission process is complete. You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been imported.

                      Certificated Application Requirements

Your application will be considered complete after we receive all of the items listed below.

Online Employment Application Form and Criminal Disclosure. Click on Application and complete each of the sections beginning with “Preference”. Fill out the remaining sections on the Application Menu including “Education”, “Certificates”, “License”, “Skills”, “Experience” and “Reference”. Note: When completing the “Experience” section please include your internship (student teaching) experience as part of your employment history.

Inserts. Click on the “Inserts” tab and then “Certificated Inserts”. There are several inserts in the Inserts section that should be printed off and returned to HR. The following forms must be completed by all certificated applicants:

1.     Certification, Authorization and Release Form.  (must be signed).
2.    Confidential Reference Form. We require two completed forms, at least one from a supervisor. (Please send a copy of this form to each of your references and have them return the completed form directly to our office. Please note that we cannot accept the completed forms from you).

In addition to the required forms, “Certificated Sub Survey” is an optional form, which should be completed if you are interested in subbing for our district.
Clicking on “print” to the right of the name of the form opens the document; print and complete all documents. Sign and submit the forms to the HR Department along with the information requested in items 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 below.

  1. General Cover Letter. Prepare a general cover letter stating the position(s) in which you are interested and your qualifications for the position(s), and stating why you would like to work for North Kitsap School District. (Can only be uploaded into the online application as a word document  but, since the software strips the formatting, we recommend that you send it in as a hard copy along with rest of the required documents).
  1. Current Resume. A resume of your work experience, education, certifications and special skills should be included. This will help to “fill in the gaps” left by the District application. (Can only be uploaded into the online application as a word document  but, since the software strips the formatting, we recommend that you send it in as a hard copy along with rest of the required documents).
  1. Letters of Recommendation or College Placement File. A placement file from your college or university or a minimum of three letters of teaching-related recommendations is required (if you choose to upload these into the system (they can  only be pasted in as word documents), please also submit signed hard copies to HR). Your application is considered incomplete without it/them. Please request your college placement service send the file directly to the Human Resources Office.
  1. Copies of College Transcripts. Transcripts are helpful in the screening process and are sometimes not included in your placement file. (Official transcripts will be required upon employment.) 
  1. Copy of State Teaching or Specialist Certificate. If you have not received your certificate, indicate when you expect to receive it and submit a copy immediately upon receipt.

Applicants are advised that they will be subject to all certification regulations as well as state background checks. When an offer of employment is made, new employees who will or may have unsupervised access to children, developmentally disabled persons, or vulnerable adults must complete a background check for criminal history, including a fingerprint check, by the State and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as well as a current written disclosure of specified criminal convictions and civil or disciplinary board findings. Any offer of employment is conditional upon the successful outcome of the criminal history background check and approval by the District's Board of Directors.
